Artistic Team

 

Associate Artist Carrie Nimmo worked with Mortal Coil from 1992 as a dancer, choreographer, stilt performer, actor, General Manager and Artistic Director. She also worked in Vancouver with Public Dreams, Vancouver Moving Theatre and the Karen Jamieson Dance Company. She is now the Cultural Programmer at CMHC at Granville Island, a position that she has held since August of 2008.

 

 Associate Artist Bessie Wapp is a vocalist, actor, designer and stilt performer who studied visual art and music in Vancouver. She joined Mortal Coil in 1993. Ms. Wapp has also worked with a variety of theatre companies and sings with the Eastern European vocal ensemble Zeellia. Bessie currently lives in Nelson.

 

 
 Associate Artist Denise Galay is a dancer, stilt performer and percussionist. She has studied and performed African and Brazilian dance styles in North and South America, Europe and Africa. Over the last ten years she has performed with many percussion groups and dance companies.

 

 
Co-Artistic Director Sharon Bayly is a performer trained in clown, mask, mime and dance. She studied at the Dell’Arte School of Physical Theatre in California and has been active with Mortal Coil since 1995.

 

 
Associate Artist Carmen Rosen is a accomplished vocalist, designer and performer. She studied visual art in Japan and Vancouver B.C. Ms. Rosen sings with the Eastern European vocal ensemble Zeellia and was a member of Elektra Women’s Choir for many years. She has been active in interdisciplinary art since 1983, and is the Artistic Director of Still Moon Arts Society.
